The Power of Peace

We live in a noisy, chaotic world that seems to be getting louder and faster every day. Learning how to manage the noise and pace of daily life is essential to balanced living. Diego Perez is a poet and New York Times best-selling author under the pen name Yung Pueblo, who writes about creating peace within our own selves. In a recent interview with Mel Robbins, Perez urges that we have the power to release the stress we hold and unlock the confidence we crave – no matter what is happening around us.

The 6-Step Process to Peace

When we feel stress from overwhelm or fear, Perez offers this 6-step process:

  1. First, notice the tension in our bodies and the thoughts that fill our minds related to the tension.

  2. Just sit in stillness with it.

  3. Do not lean into the tension or run with the thoughts in your mind.

  4. Breath, slowly and deeply

  5. Stay detached from the tension and give it space to just exist until it evaporates on its own.

  6. Be present to the peace that remains.

This exercise is simple yet incredibly impactful! It may take some practice to readily recognize when you are stressed and to locate the tension in your body. But once you do, learning to sit with it and give it space to evaporate, empowers you to access peace and avoid spiraling into anxiety and fear.

resting in Peace

Peace allows us to stop resisting and embrace the ever-changing environment around us. Peace sharpens our intuition and releases our fears by boosting our confidence to let go of control and explore the new opportunities presented to us. Resting in peace allows us to be more fully present to the world around us and live more joyfully!

Be Well in Peace❤️
